The OKC Blue were on the wrong side in their Opening Night with a 94-79 loss to the Mexico City Capitanes on Friday. The home defeat dropped their record to 0-1 in the 2026-27 regular season.

Offensive woes were the name of the game. The Blue had a slow start with a 28-21 deficit after the first quarter. Not much improvement in the second frame with just a measly 14 points. OKC entered halftime in a 44-35 hole.

Sadly, the second half was much the same story. The Blue never truly mounted a comeback. Sure, they cut it to single-digit points a couple of times, but nothing serious. They had just 22 points in the third frame. The lack of top-end scoring talent was exposed. They were in a 71-57 deficit at that juncture. Yikes.

The fourth quarter was forgettable. The Blue only had 22 points. In a night where they trailed by as many as 21 points. Considering they had zero NBA talent on hand, this shouldn't be a shocker.

The Blue shot 32% from the field and went 9-of-39 (23.1%) from 3. They shot 8-of-11 on free throws. They had 14 assists on 28 baskets. Four Blue players scored double-digit points.

Meanwhile, the Capitanes shot 43% from the field and went 13-of-31 (41.9%) from 3. They shot 8-of-11 on free throws. They had 16 assists on 33 baskets. Three Capitanes players scored double-digit points.

Here are some notable individual performances from both sides:

  • Robert McCray V: 24 points on 8-of-23 shooting, 5-of-9 from 3, five assists, three rebounds

  • Zhaire Smith: 15 points on 6-of-14 shooting, 0-of-4 from 3, four assists, three rebounds

  • Anthony Pritchard: 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting, 10 rebounds

  • Zeke Mayo: 25 points on 9-of-21 shooting, 5-of-13 from 3, four rebounds

  • Chad Baker-Mazara: 22 points on 6-of-9 shooting, 3-of-5 from 3, 4-of-5 on free throws, 10 rebounds

  • Rafael Castro: 10 points on 2-of-6 shooting, 3-of-4 on free throws, six rebounds
