Baidoo to return as Plymouth take no FA Cup chances

Plymouth Argyle's Ghana forward Michael Baidoo is set to make his return from injury in the Pilgrims' FA Cup first round tie with non-league Alvechurch.

Head coach Tom Cleverley says Baidoo, 27, will feature having suffered a serious hamstring injury in Argyle's final pre-season game in August.

Fellow forward Owen Oseni is also like to return from injury for the tie against the seventh-tier side on Saturday (15:00 GMT).

"This will be a line-up that you'll see if we're playing a league game," Cleverley told BBC Radio Devon.

"We take every game seriously, but it will be the strongest team I can play."

Baidoo was Argyle's record signing when he joined for more than £1m in January 2025 from Swedish side Elfsborg.

But he struggled to adapt to life in the Championship and spent last season on loan at Qatari side Umm Salal.

But he returned to Argyle over the summer and impressed before being injured in a 0-0 draw with Bristol City in early August.

"He's looked excellent," added Cleverley. "The way he handles the ball, his technique, his explosive power and speed, I've been really impressed by him.

"He looks like someone who is definitely going to improve the squad.

"Michael probably hasn't fully gone through the adaptation process of competing and duelling and what the EFL looks like, he had a small sample set of that under Miron [Muslic, former Plymouth Argyle head coach].

"So if he adapts quick to that it's an exciting prospect."
