Daniel Dubois accused of bending rules as Fabio Wardley’s team ‘apply pressure’ to officials

Daniel Dubois has been accused of bending the rules during his inaugural encounter with Fabio Wardley.

'Triple D' picked himself up off the canvas twice in the opening three rounds to stop Wardley in the eleventh stanza of an instant classic for the WBO heavyweight title.

Five months removed from their barn-burning bout, the British heavyweight titans are now set to renew their hostilities on Saturday night at London's O2 Arena.

Both men met for the penultimate time before fight night at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Everything had been very cordial on the top table until Wardley's manager, Michael Ofo, attempted to stoke the flames.

"The first fight was an amazing fight, but there was also lots going on that wasn't talked about as much as I would like," said Ofo.

"The MMA, rugby tackling, there was a lot of leading with the head; there was a lot of rabbit punching as well.

"So we are going to be applying a lot of pressure to make sure those things are not going to be happening."

Ofo also accused Dubois' team of being disrespectful towards Wardley after his defeat.

However, it didn't get a rise out of Dubois, nor his trainer Don Charles and manager Riz Khan, who joined him on stage.

"I expect Fabio to come through this with flying colours," continued Ofo.

"I think this will be similar to the Frazer Clarke performance.

Ofo claims Dubois bent the rules during the first fight with his client, Wardley

"After the fight, the team was pretty disrespectful to Fabio.

"Daniel Dubois said he was a dead man walking.

"You can't say those things and not be punched for those things.

"So this is going to be a great performance.

"But one thing I can agree with is that I don't think this goes past six rounds."

talkSPORT will have live commentary of Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley II on Saturday night. The action gets underway at 7pm BST (2pm EDT, 1pm CDT) on talkSPORT 2 before crossing over to talkSPORT from 9pm BST (4pm EDT, 3pm CDT) for the main event.
