Rams PFF grades: Best and worst performers in loss to Cardinals

Check out PFF grades from the Rams' loss to the Cardinals, with two fill-in starters grading out the best for LA.

The Los Angeles Rams were fully expected to get a win on Sunday, but they came up short of that goal by losing to the Arizona Cardinals, 18-16. It was their most disappointing loss of the season, and that's saying something considering how gut-wrenching two of their other losses were.

The defense did its job for most of the afternoon, keeping the Cardinals out of the end zone, but the Rams offense was atrocious and gained fewer than 300 yards. Pro Football Focus' grades paint a picture of how poorly the offense played, with David Quessenberry being the highest-graded player for L.A.

Here's a look at the best and worst performers in Week 6.

Top 5 offense

  • LT David Quessenberry: 83.0

  • RB Blake Corum: 77.9

  • WR Puka Nacua: 74.7

  • WR Konata Mumpfield: 68.6

  • WR Davante Adams: 68.2

Quessenberry filled in while Alaric Jackson served his one-game suspension and he played well, according to PFF. He allowed two pressures, one of which was a sack, and led the team with a 78.7 run-blocking grade.

Corum had 42 yards on nine carries, good for 4.7 per attempt, and forced three missed tackles. He also scored a touchdown on a 15-yard reception.

Nacua was by far the most productive receiver, catching six passes for 80 yards – 64 of which came in the fourth quarter.

Mumpfield only caught two passes for 15 yards, and Adams had three receptions for 39 yards.

Top 5 defense

  • CB Josh Wallace: 84.7

  • DB Quentin Lake: 81.1

  • OLB Wesley Bailey: 80.1

  • DT Aaron Donald: 78.9

  • LB Omar Speights: 70.6

Wallace made six tackles and only allowed 20 yards on eight targets, giving up four receptions.

Lake picked off Jacoby Brissett early in the game but allowed receptions on his five other targets totaling 44 yards.

Bailey made three tackles and was fairly effective in the run game but he didn't have any pressures.

Donald finished with two pressures and three total tackles, missing one tackle.

Speights made four tackles in limited action but did have one miss, too.

Bottom 5 offense

  • RB Kyren Williams: 59.0

  • RG Kevin Dotson: 55.3

  • QB Matthew Stafford: 50.6

  • TE Davis Allen: 42.0

  • TE Tyler Higbee: 37.6

Williams forced one missed tackle as a runner and also added three catches for 17 yards, giving him 67 yards from scrimmage on 13 touches.

Dotson only allowed two pressures but his pass-blocking grade of 37.6 was by far the worst on the team.

Stafford had three turnover-worthy plays despite not throwing an interception or losing a fumble, and his average depth of target was just 5.3.

Allen didn't catch a pass and had one rush attempt for no gain on fourth-and-1.

Higbee continues to be the No. 1 tight end but he had just 22 yards on four catches and lost a costly fumble in the fourth quarter.

Bottom 5 defense

  • S Kamren Kinchens: 49.3

  • OLB Josaiah Stewart: 48.1

  • DL Braden Fiske: 45.5

  • LB Nate Landman: 44.1

  • DT Ty Hamilton: 35.0

Kinchens missed two tackles and allowed one catch on his only target, which went for 11 yards.

Stewart also missed two tackles and had just two pressures on the day, failing to get a hit on Brissett.

Both of Fiske's pressures were QB hits and he didn't have any missed tackles.

Landman led the team with 10 tackles and had just one miss, also allowing 26 yards on one target.

Hamilton didn't have any tackles or pressures in the loss.

Other notables

  • DT Kobie Turner: 67.2

  • TE Colby Parkinson: 65.6

  • S Kamren Curl: 62.4

  • OLB Byron Young: 62.0

Turner played just 23 snaps, likely due to some sort of injury. He had no pressures and made just two tackles.

Parkinson had a 51.6 run-blocking grade and caught a touchdown pass. He finished with five catches for 31 yards.

Curl played through an ankle injury and finished second on the team with eight tackles, but he did have two misses, too.

Young led the team with three pressures, including one QB hit.
