When will Jordyn Tyson play? Latest injury updates on Saints rookie WR

Drafted by the New Orleans Saints with the No. 8 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, everyone is still waiting for debut of the former Arizona State star. For a player that came into the draft process with injury concerns, it didn't take long for Tyson to end up on the injury report in the NFL.

Through no fault of his own, the rookie picked up a hamstring injury in training camp. Head coach Kellen Moore announced the injury to reporters on Aug. 14 and it was later revealed that Tyson would miss about two months.

The receiver has become somewhat of an afterthought in his absence, but that could change soon as he nears a return.

With New Orleans set to play in the NFL's first Paris game on Oct. 25, will Tyson also play his first NFL game?

Here's what to know about the rookie's availability for Week 7.

When will Jordyn Tyson play?

Tyson could play as early as Week 7 when the Saints play the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL's first Paris game.

Currently on injured reserve, the Saints haven't opened Tyson's 21-day practice window. Once that is opened, the receiver can return to the practice field.

And that is notable since Tyson traveled with the team to Paris, meaning there is a chance that he could get back on the field this week.

It seems unlikely that Tyson would suit up heading into the week though, though, especially when the Saints have a bye in Week 8 and they aren't playing on a traditional NFL field against the Steelers.

At the very least, he could return to practice and he is eligible to come off injured reserve at any time.

Jordyn Tyson injury update

Tyson suffered a hamstring injury in training camp and is on injured reserve.

"Jordyn has a hamstring," Moore said. "Something that we're going to continue to collect some more information just as far as what that timeline looks. He kind of got caught in a goofy spot."

Moore added that the way the injury happened would likely have resulted in the same outcome for any other player.

“I think my understanding of this one, any player that was put in his situation where your foot slips and you get shoved from behind, this has nothing to do with Jordyn’s history,” Moore said. “Any player in that situation probably has the same diagnosis coming out of this.”

Saints WR depth chart

Here's a look at what the Saints' WR depth chart has looked like without Tyson:

  • Chris Olave

  • Devaughn Vele

  • Bryce Lance

  • Barion Brown

  • Cedric Tillman

As expected, Olave has led the way for the New Orleans passing attack. Vele has emerged as a real weapon in this offense though, which has helped take some of the attention away from Olave.
