Ex-Chiefs DL fined nearly $15,000 for 'violent gesture' in Week 8

On Saturday, November 7, the NFL officially announced that it had fined former Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Charles Omenihu $14,926 for a "violent gesture" made during the Washington Commanders' Week 8 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Omenihu played for the Chiefs between 2023 and 2025 and joined the Commanders as a free agent earlier this year.

While the league did not specify what the exact gesture was that resulted in disciplinary action against the Super Bowl LVIII champion, the hefty fine is sure to disincentivize Omenihu from being overly expressive on the gridiron moving forward.

Through his first five games with Washington this season, Omenihu has earned one start, tallying one sack and two solo tackles in limited playing time.

Expect to see the former Texas Longhorn play with less of an edge when the Commanders take on the Los Angeles Rams at Northwest Stadium in Week 9 action on Sunday.
