It has not taken very long for USC's freshman class to make an impact on the field. The Trojans' young talent is a huge part of the reason that they control their destiny in the College Football Playoff race entering the month of November.
In a recent story, Billy Tucker of ESPN ranked the top 40 freshmen in college football. Coming in at No. 7 on the list was USC defensive lineman Luke Wafle.
"Wafle has been more disruptive than his three sacks suggest," Tucker wrote. "He has consistently collapsed the pocket and hurried quarterbacks, and his production is starting to pay dividends. The 6-6, 265-pounder tallied 19 tackles and all of his sacks in October. No Power 4 freshman defender has played more snaps than Wafle, and he leads all true freshmen in pressures. He has the power to set the edge and hold his ground against the run."
Wafle and the Trojans are off this week. They will be back in action next week for a massive road test at Indiana.
