Liverpool reportedly told Valencia they will trigger the release clause in 19-year-old right-winger David Otorbi’s €30m contract.
The Reds urgently need a right-winger to replace Mohamed Salah, and they also need a right-back signing to let Ronald Araujo play in his preferred position, although the Uruguayan has been mightily impressive in the role since moving from Barcelona on loan.
Araujo is already a fan favourite, with widespread calls to trigger his release clause in the summer, which is set at £47m and is a major bargain for a player of his calibre.
Since Andoni Iraola was appointed as Arne Slot’s successor, there has been a noticeable increase in interest in La Liga stars, with Valencia’s Otorbi the latest to be linked with a move to Anfield.

According to Spanish outlet Tribuna Deportiva, Liverpool are serious about signing Otorbi and are ready to present the money required to facilitate his move to Merseyside.
They report: “Liverpool told Valencia and representatives of right winger David Otorbi this week that they wanted to trigger his €30m release clause.
“Valencia responded by quickly activating an option to extend his contract by three years, increasing his release clause to €60m.”

Liverpool already have a teenage winger capable of becoming elite, with Rio Ngunoha’s star shining brighter and brighter each week, while Victor Munoz’s move from Osasuna further solidified depth on the right flank.
Signing Otorbi might not make the most sense right now, even if he is a very exciting player.
Ngumoha has better numbers too, with two assists to Otorbi’s one goal this season. Truth be told, neither is particularly prolific yet, although time will improve that without doubt.

Ultimately, it doesn’t make much sense for Liverpool to sign another right-winger to compete with Ngumoha given how he is improving every week.
It also doesn’t make sense to sign a new winger until the club signs a new right-back to free Araujo to compete with Jeremy Jacquet and Virgil van Dijk for a starting role.
