Ardencaple Ladies collect four points from last two matches

The Hermitage Academy-based side kicked off their league programme at the start of September when they welcomed Clyde FC Ladies Rec.

Despite goals from Emma Connor and Kayra Beck, Ardencaple went down 5-2 in their first fixture.

A tough trip to East Kilbride followed on September 18, with the Helensburgh side suffering a 5-1 defeat.

However, Caple bounced back in impressive style to record their first victory of the season on October 2, defeating Hillwood 3-0.

The home side flew out of the blocks and were three goals ahead inside the opening 10 minutes.

Connor opened the scoring with a low strike before Donna Rodden doubled the lead following a flowing team move.

Connor then grabbed her second of the afternoon with a superb turn and finish.

Strong work from the Ardencaple midfield and defence limited Hillwood's opportunities, with the visitors restricted largely to hopeful long balls.

The result capped a dominant team performance and secured a deserved three points.

That success was followed by a hard-earned 2-2 draw away to Port Glasgow on October 16.

With both defences on top, chances were limited throughout.

Connor broke the deadlock midway through the first half, beating two players before firing home via the post.

Port Glasgow levelled just before the interval after a long goal kick caught the visitors out.

Ardencaple continued to work tirelessly in the second half and regained the lead with 15 minutes remaining.

Sophie Edwardson produced a moment of quality, collecting possession 30 yards from goal, beating three opponents and rifling a shot into the top corner.

The Helensburgh side looked set for back-to-back victories before Port Glasgow forced home a late equaliser following a long throw.

While disappointed not to take all three points, Ardencaple could take plenty of positives from another committed team display, with the squad showing clear signs of improvement as the season progresses.

The club trains and plays its home matches at Hermitage Academy.
