There is no denying that Manchester United are nothing more than a shadow of what they once were under Sir Alex Ferguson. The legendary Scot led the Red Devils to countless trophies, both domestically and in Europe, making them one of football's most feared club sides. Their shortcomings in the transfer market have played a significant role in their steady decline over the last decade or so. Millions and millions of pounds have been spent on new players, but United have very little to show for it.
