Cheavon Clarke warns Chris Billam-Smith ahead of November 7 fight: 'The bull’s always driven – but they get tamed'

Cheavon Clarke faces Chris Billam-Smith in the main event at the Copper Box Arena on Zuffa Boxing 12 on November 12, live on Sky Sports; Billam-Smith is motivated by amateur losses to Clarke, who promises: "If it's anything like it was in the last two fights, you guys are in for a treat"

Chris Billam-Smith gives an analysis on his previous amateur encounter with Cheavon Clarke back in 2016.

Cheavon Clarke knows he is facing a Chris Billam-Smith with a score to settle.

Clarke beat Billam-Smith twice as an amateur before boxing his way to the GB squad and the Tokyo Olympics.

Billam-Smith subsequently became a world champion as a professional but has a point to prove when he fights Clarke on November 7, live on Sky Sports.

Clarke knows his rival will be driven going into their headline bout at the Copper Box Arena, but shrugged it off.

"The bull's always driven - but they get tamed. He'll come out with his tactics and everyone has a plan until they get in the ring. On the night we'll see," he told Sky Sports.

"He's a former world champion so you have to give credit where it's due. But regardless I know what my ability is, I've been given a gift. It's wrong for me not to fulfil that gift. So come November 7 we will see."

Clarke doesn't cherish his two amateur wins over Billam-Smith.

"We've changed so much as fighters in that time, we've evolved," he said. "Of course we fought in the past but that was in the amateurs.

"He's become a world champion, I've done my thing. Funnily enough it's actually a decade since we fought."

But he did add: "If it's anything like it was in the last two fights, you guys are in for a treat. Big punches, knockouts, it's all there."

Both Billam-Smith are coming off impressive victories in their last fights. Billam-Smith won a war with Ryan Rozicki and on the same bill Clarke rose from the canvas twice to take out Jack Massey.

"People talk about the knockdowns and that's all great," Clarke said of Massey. "He wasn't dictating the pace, I was dictating the pace. He was moving because I wanted him to move there.

"He caught me with a shot, fair play, he tried to finish me and that didn't work out. I then had to adjust. I adjusted and then I got the victory. I think that shows my calibre. I'm able to adjust. I'm able to manouevre, think on the spot and get the job done."
