Iheanacho shows Celtic what they're missing with stunning goal record

The Nigerian international reached the mark for Bursaspor during their 2-0 win against Pendikspor. His goal also helped extend his personal scoring run to 12 consecutive matches, including a goal for Nigeria in a 3-3 friendly draw with Russia.

Iheanacho has scored 15 goals during his 11-game league run, which is the best scoring sequence in Turkish football history.

The striker played an important role as Celtic won the title in the final moments of last season. However, he left the club for Bursaspor after failing to agree a new contract with the Scottish side.

He has since scored regularly in the Turkish second tier and said he was pleased to have reached the record.

Kelechi Iheanacho said: "I wasn't aware I was breaking records, but keep getting told about it.

"I am happy and proud of what I have done to have broken such a record in Turkish football. It has not been easy and has been very difficult."

Iheanacho said: "I won't say anything about my future plans regarding my Bursaspor career for now. I don't want to answer that because it's a matter concerning the future.

"We're not in the future right now, we're living in the present. I will continue to enjoy the moment and try to help the club win the league."
