Austin Bashi returned to the featherweight win column earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 7, 2026) at UFC Vegas 124 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, stopping Octagon newcomer Carlos Calderon with a dominant first-round submission (rear-naked choke).
Bashi, who lost his last UFC appearance to Jose Delgado, came into Saturday’s contest a massive betting favorite. That’s because Bashi is considered on the best rising prospects at 145 pounds and the fact that Calderon was stepping up on just a few days notice. It was a tough ask for Calderon and a prime opportunity for Bashi to outshine a UFC newbie.
Calderon, who came over from Fury FC, didn’t have any trouble firing out the gate and trying to make it a brawl. Unfortunately for him, Bashi didn’t need long to bring this fight to the ground. Once there, the 25-year-old was able to work his way to Calderon’s back and locked in the rear-naked choke. Calderon fought for a few moments before tapping and putting an end to his UFC debut.
