‘Getting Ridiculous,’ ‘Saddest Start to an NBA Season’ - NBA World In Despair As Pacers Star Tyrese Haliburton Suffers Injury Shortly After Return

The Indiana Pacers have had a mixed start to the 2026-27 NBA season, currently holding a 2-2 record. While the team was still finding its rhythm, the return of Tyrese Haliburton had given fans plenty of reasons to remain optimistic.

However, just when things appeared to be moving in the right direction, the Pacers received another major setback involving their cornerstone player.

Tyrese Haliburton Has Suffered Another Injury

ESPN insider Shams Charania on Wednesday reported that Haliburton has suffered a strained left hamstring and is expected to miss time. The news comes just four games into his comeback season after a torn Achilles kept him sidelined for 16 months following the 2025 NBA Finals.

Haliburton had played both games of a back-to-back over the weekend, including the matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. Following that game, the Pacers guard admitted that he was feeling “a little beat up.” Shortly afterward, the hamstring issue appeared on the team’s injury report.

For now, Haliburton and the Pacers’ medical staff are still evaluating the injury to determine a recovery timeline.

As news of the setback spread across social media, reactions from the NBA world quickly poured in.

Haliburton is far from the only star to go down early. Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards is out and is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and is expected to miss up to two months.

In Oklahoma City, Jalen Williams is out with a dislocated left ankle and fractured fibula, an injury likely to end his season after surgery, while teammate Cason Wallace is sidelined long-term with a shoulder injury.

Orlando has been hit as well. Paolo Banchero is out four to six weeks with a low-grade high ankle sprain, and Jalen Suggs is dealing with a knee contusion and bone bruise. Now, when the Pacers star was added to the list, many feel that this is simply not how an NBA season should begin.

“There’s no way, bro, this is getting ridiculous,” an X user wrote, whereas an admin of a San Antonio Spurs fan page said, “This saddest start to an NBA season. Everyone and their mother is hurt.”

One user questioned the situation, writing, “What kinda curse did somebody put on the league,” while another wrote, “Make it stop. I am begging… we aren’t even at Halloween yet!”

The frustration is understandable, especially given how promising Haliburton’s return looked. Through his first four games, the Pacers guard was averaging 21.8 points, 9.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.

He was also shooting 51.6% from the field while averaging 33.0 minutes per game. Those numbers suggested that Haliburton was gradually returning to his best form.

For Indiana, the immediate priority will be ensuring Haliburton makes a complete recovery rather than rushing him back into action. With the Pacers still early in their campaign, his availability could play an important role in shaping their season.
