Colts have not considered QB change as Shane Steichen sticks with Daniel Jones

As Shane Steichen’s job hangs in the balance, the Colts coach is sticking with quarterback Daniel Jones. Steichen said after Sunday’s 16-10 loss to the Vikings that he has not considered a quarterback change.

“Because I got a ton of faith in Daniel,” Steichen said, via James Boyd of TheAthletic.com. “The game plan today was to go in and run the football. Obviously, at the end he had the interception, and that happens in football.”

Jones was 13-of-22 for 108 yards with an interception. Vikings defensive back Harrison Smith picked Jones on a pass intended for tight end Will Mallory with 1:08 remaining, ending any hope of a comeback.

The Colts signed Daniel Jones to a two-year, $88 million extension in the offseason, even though he was returning from a torn right Achilles. The Colts are 2-5, and Jones has thrown four touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Colts have 2023 first-round pick Anthony Richardson and Riley Leonard behind Jones.
