When will Donte DiVincenzo return to the Timberwolves?

With the addition of LaMelo Ball to their backcourt, there's a lot of excitement around the Minnesota Timberwolves as they get set to tip off their 2026-2027 season on the road against the similarly new-look Miami Heat on Wednesday night. What's even more intriguing is that they might have potent reinforcements coming later this season for one of the Western Conference's heavyweights over the last few years.

I'm talking, of course, about shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo, who tore his Achilles during the playoffs last season.

At the moment, DiVincenzo doesn't have an exact return date in mind for Minnesota. However, he is apparently meeting all his return milestones and has already said he will play at some point this season. That's very encouraging to hear, even if an Achilles tear suffered in late April probably means said comeback will almost certainly be later in the Timberwolves' campaign:

Before his injury, DiVincenzo had averaged 12 points per game and shot 38 percent from the 3-point line. That's excellent scoring and shooting depth the Timberwolves could really use when DiVincenzo returns to the court.

Who is playing for Donte DiVincenzo in the Timberwolves' lineup?

Third-year guard Terrence Shannon Jr. is listed as Anthony Edwards' primary backup at shooting guard on the Timberwolves' depth chart. While Shannon could be a useful player in his own right, that's something that will probably change whenever DiVincenzo comes back.
