The Georgia Bulldogs earned a 27-8 rivalry win over the Florida Gators to move to 7-1. Georgia forced four turnovers, the first of which was an Ellis Robinson interception on a terrible decision by Florida quarterback Aaron Philo.
Robinson returned the ball into Florida territory and did not play in the second half. Of course, Georgia led by 24 points at halftime, so the Bulldogs did not necessarily need Robinson.
“Yeah, his knee tightened up on him," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said on Ellis Robinson. "I don’t know if it happened on the interception, because I saw a replay of the interception. I thought he got hit right on the knee. But we don’t really know. Don’t think there was anything structurally wrong. It just tightened up on him. It looked like a Charlie Horse or a bruise, but honestly, I don’t know.”
With Robinson out, Georgia played Oklahoma cornerback transfer Braylon Conley, who had an interception in the end zone and a tackle against Florida. Georgia starting cornerback Demello Jones also had an interception.
Robinson is a former five-star recruit and has six interceptions in his Georgia career. He was a preseason first-team All-SEC selection.
Georgia's win over Florida sets the Bulldogs up for a major test in Week 10 against the Ole Miss Rebels and quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. Georgia really needs Robinson and the secondary to play well against the Rebels.
