PFF ranks Michigan State's bottom five players against Northwestern

On Saturday, Michigan State suffered their fifth straight loss, and for the second straight weekend, it was a heart breaking day for the Spartans. A 24-21 defeat at the hands of Northwestern knocked MSU down to 2-5 on the season.

While a solid effort from Michigan State, too many mistakes hindered the team, with the Spartans feeling just one play away from another chance at earning a win.

After looking at the film, and evaluating the game, Pro Football Focus (Subscription Required) gave out their grades for the Spartans in the game. Check out the bottom five players (minimum five snaps) for the Spartans, according to PFF:

  • TE Brennan Parachek - 45.0

  • WR Rodney Bullard - 54.3

  • WR KK Smith - 54.7

  • CB Jeremiah Favorite - 54.8

  • TE Kai Rios - 54.8

A mixed bag, the receivers and the defensive backfield struggled in this game, and it was evident in PFF's grades for the contest. At some point, offensively, the Spartans coaching staff is going to have to let the young guys play for the lower performing veterans.
