The Baltimore Ravens made three roster moves Saturday ahead of Sunday's Week 8 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, activating cornerback T.J. Tampa Jr. from injured reserve while elevating offensive tackle Chuma Edoga and outside linebacker Adisa Isaac from the practice squad.
Baltimore announced the transactions one day after releasing its final injury report, which listed Tampa as questionable with a knee injury. His activation makes him eligible to play against Buffalo and adds depth to a secondary preparing to face Josh Allen and the NFL's highest-scoring offense.
Tampa was placed on injured reserve Sept. 19 and returned to practice earlier this month. The cornerback participated fully Thursday and Friday, allowing Baltimore to evaluate his progress before making Saturday's roster decision.
His return is particularly important because safety Jaylinn Hawkins is ruled out with a knee injury. Although Tampa plays cornerback rather than safety, his availability gives defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver another option in the defensive backfield and on special teams.
The Ravens also elevated Edoga to provide offensive line depth after starting right guard Vega Ioane was ruled out with a knee injury. Ioane suffered an MCL sprain during Baltimore's 35-13 loss to Cincinnati and returned to practice Thursday and Friday, but the rookie will miss Sunday's contest. Edoga has previously been elevated for Baltimore's games against Atlanta and Cleveland. His availability gives the Ravens additional flexibility along an offensive line that must protect Lamar Jackson and improve its rushing production. Baltimore Ravens – baltimoreravens.com
Isaac, meanwhile, provides depth at outside linebacker as Baltimore continues adjusting to the loss of Tavius Robinson, who was placed on injured reserve after the Cleveland game. Isaac was elevated for last week's matchup against Cincinnati and will again be available to contribute on defense and special teams.
Baltimore enters Sunday's contest at 4-3 after consecutive losses, while Buffalo is 5-1. Jackson is expected to return after missing three games with a high ankle sprain, giving the Ravens an opportunity to regain offensive momentum.
With Tampa activated and two additional players elevated, Baltimore has addressed several roster needs before facing one of the AFC's strongest teams.
