With reports of AC Milan’s interest in German-Italian striker Nicolo Tresoldi, Oliver Bierhoff has offered a few words about his future.
Tresoldi being linked to Milan is nothing new. A young striker who loves the club, it makes sense why the links exist. However, there may now be something tangible in them. Indeed, reports suggest that Gerry Cardinale is pushing to make a move and things could happen in January.
Failing that – as long as he remains in Brugge – the American will try again for the striker who is believed to be worth around €50 million after his hat-trick at San Siro earlier this week. Importantly, the club believe he could complete the attacking options, rather than being an overbearing presence in Francesco Camarda’s future.
Speaking to ProSieben this morning, Bierhoff explained his hopes for Tresoldi, where the German national team and the Rossoneri are concerned, as MilanPress relayed.
“If Tresoldi continues like this, he could solve the German national team’s attacking problem; he’s perfect. That’s what I hope for, of course, and that’s why I think we shouldn’t waste any time. But, as far as I know, the German Football Association is already in contact with him.
“I certainly hope he chooses Germany, because we need every talent, especially in attack. However, I believe that the choice should be made not only based on sporting criteria, but also with heart.
“Today, Milan are not at the level they once were. I had the privilege of playing there; now he has the potential to play for such a big and internationally renowned club.”
It’s a big endorsement for the young striker; if he manages to recreate what Bierhoff did in Italy, he’ll certainly be remembered fondly at San Siro.
