NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans Saints receiver Jordyn Tyson, the club's 2026 first-round draft choice, is set to make his NFL debut as early as Sunday against the Cleveland Browns after being moved from injured reserve to the active roster.
The addition of Tyson to the active roster on Saturday was among a handful of moves by the Saints, who also activated second-year left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. from injured reserve, cut running back Kendre Miller and promoted kicker Charlie Smyth from the practice squad.
Tyson, drafted eighth overall out of Arizona State, injured his hamstring during training camp, and began the regular season on New Orleans' injured reserve list.
The 22-year-old receiver returned to practice on Wednesday on a limited basis, but said he felt physically ready to play.
The 6-foot-2, 203-pound Tyson — whose brother, Jaylon, plays in the NBA with Cleveland — was the second receiver drafted behind Ohio State’s Carnell Tate, who went fourth overall to Tennessee.
Last season, Tyson played in nine games at Arizona State, catching 61 passes for 711 yards and eight touchdowns in a season shortened by a hamstring injuries in both legs.
Miller was in his fourth NFL season since the Saints made him a third-round draft choice out of TCU. Plagued by various injuries, he has yet to appear in more than eight games, or gain more than 193 yards rushing, in a season.
He has played in six games this season, gaining 159 yards and two touchdowns rushing on 57 carries to go with nine receptions for 37 yards.
Banks has not played since injuring his ankle during a Week 2 victory at Baltimore. Smyth, an international pathway player from Northern Ireland, has not played since the latter part of last season. He began this season on the practice squad after the Saints signed veteran kicker Daniel Carlson.
But Carlson was cut this past week on the heels of his fourth missed field goal this season.
The Saints also promoted running back Zamir White from the practice squad and cut tight end Treyton Welch.
