Brian Barry-Murphy has revealed striker Callum Robinson was left out of the Cardiff City squad for last weekend's game against Middlesbrough for failing to meet internal squad standards.
Robinson was among the goalscorers in the Bluebirds' 5-1 win against Watford on 13 October but was then dropped for the trip to the Riverside Stadium as the team earned a creditable 2-2 draw.
The head coach has confirmed the 31-year-old was not injured and his omission from the travelling party to the north east was down to other issues.
"We have certain standards that all the players have to adhere to before they are considered for selection," Barry-Murphy said.
"Callum missed out on some of those before last Saturday so he wasn't available.
"But he is back with us this week."
Robinson has found his game time limited in south Wales since the arrival of Barry-Murphy in June 2025.
He has started just nine league games under the Irishman, having been Cardiff's top scorer in the 2024-25 season with 12 goals.
"The standards that we expect for the dressing room are internal," the Bluebirds' head coach said.
"We're always judged in public so that's fine, but for the dressing room and how we work day by day it's private for us."
When pushed for more detail of what the breach of standards were, Barry-Murphy insisted it would remain in-house.
"I think it'd be wrong to presume [what the breach was]," he added.
"The supporters want to see certain qualities in their team week to week.
"And we have to make sure that they remain the case day to day and then they have to be private.
"They have to be ours, for ourselves."
Robinson has been welcomed back into the squad this week and is available for selection for Saturday's match against Birmingham City at Cardiff City Stadium (15:00 BST).
"Callum is a great player," Barry-Murphy added.
"He's been a great player for us and a great person so there's no problem whatsoever.
"I'm very pleased to have him back in training this week."
