The U.S. Open Squash Championships, a major international competition for a new Olympic sport, air Friday and Saturday on Peacock.
The U.S. Open semifinals are Friday at 6 p.m. ET and the finals Saturday at 6 ET from Philadelphia.
Squash was part of a group of sports added in October 2023 to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic program, along with baseball, softball, cricket, flag football and lacrosse sixes.
Squash is a racket sport where two players compete in an enclosed court with four walls. Matches are best-of-five games. The first player to 11 points, with at least a two-point lead, wins each game.
The Olympic debut of squash in 2028 will feature men’s singles and women’s singles events with 16-player fields. The tournaments will be held at the Comcast Squash Center inside Universal Studios.
At the U.S. Open, both sets of semifinals feature the world’s top three ranked players: Mostafa Asal (Egypt), Paul Coll (New Zealand) and Diego Elias (Peru) for the men and Amina Orfi (Egypt), Hania El Hammamy (Egypt) and Nour El Sherbini (Egypt) for the women.
The top Americans — world No. 5 Olivia Weaver and No. 10 Amanda Sobhy — lost in the round of 16.
