The Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into a much-needed week of rest at the bye, but their next opponent received a devastating injury update.
On Tuesday, the Steelers' Week 10 opponent, the Cincinnati Bengals, announced that standout pass rusher Cashius Howell was placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery to repair a wrist injury he suffered last Sunday. He'll miss at least the next four games, which includes the Steelers-Bengals meeting on November 15.
Howell suffered his right wrist injury during the third quarter of the Bengals' Week 8 win over the Tennessee Titans. He underwent surgery later that night and was placed on injured reserve two days later.
Howell, drafted by the Bengals in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, has quietly emerged as one of the league's more underrated pass rushers. Through seven career games, Howell has recorded six tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, five quarterback hits, and zero forced fumbles.
Unlike the Bengals, the Steelers are actually expected to receive some possible good injury news for the Week 10 meeting between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, as wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. teased a return after the bye.
