Here at Vital Barnsley, we rate the players following our 2 – 1 defeat at Luton:
Slicker 6
Certainly, an upgrade on Ravenhill. Made some decent saves at times but ones that you would expect him to make. I don’t like the fact that he tries to punch everything and he can’t punch. Jury is still out but better than anything else we have on the books.
Noslin 5
Hooked at half time after a poor first half. Possibly more suited to a right wing role than right back.
O’Riordan 5
Another hooked at half time after his part in the opening goal.
Shepherd 6
The pick of the back four. Missed an absolute sitter at the other end. You’d probably want anyone but him with that chance. When did he become a ‘long’ throw specialist?
Kay 5
His only poor game of the season so far. Looked much better at centre back in the second half.
McGeehan 6
Steady if unspectacular is probably something I could write about McGeehan every game. Rarely drops below a 6 and only ever above 6 if he manages to nick a goal. Not involved anywhere near enough as what you want from a central midfielder. Partially at fault for losing his man for the second goal.
Kelly 8
Man of the match again. Here there and everywhere. Always finding ways to get on the ball and drive the team forward. Brilliant with his defensive duties as well. He’s been a revelation since he returned from international duty after a poor start to the season by his standards.
Yoganathan 7
Another decent game for the youngster both in the number ten role and wide on the right. Looks our biggest goal threat at the moment. Won a lot of flick Ons in the first half which no one gambled on.
Brownlie 5
Couldn’t live up to his performance from Saturday. Another one that was hooked at half time.
Cleary 6
Not his best game as he struggled to create chances against a resolute defence.
Adeyemo 5
Looked leggy after playing Saturday-Tuesday after so long out. Missed a glorious opportunity to score which enhanced my fears that he will only be any good with his back to goal.
Kirk 7
Came on at half time and scored a terrific goal. His all-round game looked much better than it had in any of his previous appearances. Possibly due to having a strike partner and not being stuck up top on his own.
Larkeche 7
Gave us much better balance having a left footer at left back.
Okedina 6
Another that was introduced at half time and had a solid half.
Richards 6
Should have been awarded a penalty.
Bland 5
Not enough time to make an impact.
Stendel 6
The first half mark would be a lot lower, but credit must be given for his half-time changes and the way he had us playing in the second half. Almost gave him an extra mark for the scrap after the full-time whistle.
