The Raiders are set to make the quick trip back to the Bay to face the 49ers. But first there is the matter of naming team captains.
Each week, the Raiders have used the team captain designation as a way of rewarding players for their performances the previous week. Up until last week, they didn't have a repeat. But there were still a few starters on each side of the ball who hadn't gotten the honor. They checked one more off the list this week.
Fresh off his game-sealing interception, S Jeremy Chinn has been named a captain. That was Chinn's first interception of the season and it ensured the Raiders win over the Jets last week.
The leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns last week was TE Brock Bowers. He gets his second Captain designation of the season. And the Napa native will likely have several friends and family on hand for the game as well. Some of whom may be feeling a little dual loyalty.
For the special teams, the captain is CB Darrell Luter. The former San Francisco 49ers fifth round pick was claimed off waivers from the 49ers after the initial roster cuts back in August. He had a nice tackle on a punt return last week, stopping it inside the New York 20-yard-line. It was his third special teams tackle of the season in five appearances.
