Former Hull KR man Shaun Kenny-Dowall has returned to Sydney Roosters in a coaching capacity ahead of the 2027 season.
Kenny-Dowall has worked as a coach since hanging up his boots at the end of the 2023 campaign, with the former New Zealand international working under Willie Peters for two seasons before heading back down under.
The 38-year-old initially took up a role as a pathways and development coach at Newcastle Knights, his former club, but he has now returned to the Roosters.
Kenny-Dowall spent most of his career in Roosters colours, racking up 224 appearances and scoring 121 tries and he has now been asked to return to the Eastern Suburbs to take on the club's academy and Harold Matthews Cup side.
He'll work as a head coach of the youth team, taking over from former Leeds Rhinos outside back Paul Momirovski, who steps up to take on the club's New South Wales Cup side.
Kenny-Dowall spent four seasons as a player with the Robins between 2020 and 2023 and he captained the side for three of those years.
He stepped into Willie Peters' backroom team in 2024 and he went on to play a key off the field role in the treble KR won in 2025 before opting to leave the Robins and head back down under.
His appointment comes as part of a coaching shake up at the Roosters following the departures of Matt King and Michael Cheika, who served as assistants under head coach Trent Robinson.
Brett Morris has been selected as the man to step up from the New South Wales Cup side to take on one of the vacant assistant roles, while former Hull FC man Sam Moa, is reportedly set to make the move from Parramatta Eels to the Roosters.
