Charles Green's Rangers clash with Celtic's Peter Lawwell

Green claims that the then-Celtic chief told him the Old Firm clubs should vote together during a key gathering of Scotland's top-flight sides.

Green said he immediately pushed back and warned Lawwell that he would only support him if he believed it was right for Rangers and Scottish football.

He recounted the meeting on Richard Keys and Andy Gray's podcast, Keys & Gray Unleashed, recalling a meeting that took place during Rangers' tumultuous period in 2012.

Green said: "We waited for him; he's like Frank Sinatra, he has to be the last one on the stage and have the big entry."

He claimed that Lawwell then said: "Charles, I'm sure Andrew's [Dixon] told you what the rules are. You and I vote together, and it doesn't matter what the other clubs do - it can't go through."

However, Green said he refused to guarantee his support, responding: "But please don't go out that door thinking you can rely on me to vote because I won't vote unless I believe it's right."

Green said Lawwell then "got up and walked out."
