The USC Trojans and their next opponent, the Indiana Hoosiers, both have their week off before their November 14 game. That Week 11 battle carries an immense amount of meaning in the Big Ten. Week 10 will help to shape what Week 11 looks like. This weekend will still give us many games that could drastically change the Big Ten standings. Two potential upsets are part of the drama this week.
Here is how Week 10 of the Big Ten football season will pan out:
It has been 3 straight devastating losses for the Nebraska Cornhuskers; this week, they will put an end to it. Anthony Colandrea will give the Illinois Fighting Illini's defense problems all game long and lead the Cornhuskers to a 24-17 win.
The Minnesota Gophers have been a team that has given some top contenders tough games and has even pulled off an upset in the last few weeks. The UCLA Bruins know how to win games. That will be the difference; no matter how close this game gets or how much adversity strikes, the Bruins will find a way. Bruins will win 21-10.
The Maryland Terrapins put up a good fight last week, forcing the Illini to the brink of an upset. The Purdue Boilermakers will prove to be the better team and outplay the Terrapins. Purdue has had some explosive offensive games this season; Week 10 will be one of those. Purdue will win 38-20.
Ohio State Buckeyes will be trotting out Luke Fahey for another week, and I think they will see the same results. Fahey will struggle, and it will be time to bring in Tavien St. Clair. This time, St. Clair will ignite something special for the Buckeyes offense, leading them to a very close, dramatic win over the Oregon Ducks. This will be the game of the week. Ohio State will win 28-21.
The Penn State Nittany Lions barely beat Purdue last week. This week, on the road, the Washington Huskies will humble them. In all, due to an electric Demond Williams performance. Demond Williams Jr. will lead the Washington Huskies to a 41-20 win.
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights' trip to Camp Randall Stadium will not bode well for them this week. Especially after the disastrous loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes last week. The Wisconsin Badgers' defense will show up to play, and Colton Joseph will have his best game of the season against Rutgers' defense. I like the Badgers to win 35-14.
Iowa's defense is elite; however, they will have a tough day stopping the Northwestern Wildcats' offense at home. Northwestern has put up 30 points in each of its home games; it is something about playing in that stadium. Chip Kelly and the Wildcats' offense will look to right their wrongs from last week's loss. I think Northwestern will come out victorious at home. Northwestern will win 30-17.
These games do not alter the talent gap; they always produce a close game. I think this week will be no different; however, Tommy Carr will be stellar and lead the Michigan Wolverines past their rival. Michigan will win 27-24.
