Dan Grimshaw insists Norwich City squad remains united

It is a spiralling run of form that has prompted questions over City on and off the pitch, with eight defeats in 11 leaving them just one place and one point above the Championship relegation zone.

More concerning has been the regression in performances, with a Carrow Road double-header squandered as an opportunity to turn their campaign around. That has left supporters questioning what has changed since the remarkable upturn under Philippe Clement last season, but Grimshaw insists the unity within the squad remains intact.

"The mood in terms of how we are as a group, and it's a really good group," the keeper told the Pink Un. "Nothing like that's changed. It's more just that, I think, when results don't go your way, especially with a young group, it affects confidence, and you start seeing a different side.

"But we need to put that away now and we need to really start this season and get going. I think as a group, we're all going to be around each other and we know it's us who's going to get us out of this situation. So as soon as we get that first win and hopefully we'll see many more come.

"A lot of character is going to be needed. I think with this group, you do see that. It's not like it's a group where people aren't trying or anything like that. That's not the case. So we know we have to keep going and I'm sure when one win comes on, we'll see a lot more.

"I'm sure there'll be a time now where we always have a debrief of the game and we'll go through that and we'll try and learn from what we've done well and not so well in this game and then we need to move on quickly because there's no point taking this feeling any further because that's not going to help us either."

There is an uncomfortable familiarity to City’s current predicament given the struggles they endured at the beginning of last season.

Norwich eventually found a way through that turbulence, but Grimshaw does not believe this is simply history repeating itself and feels calm heads are required to change their trajectory.

"I think obviously it feels similar to last year, but I don't think it's the same situation," he said. "There's a part of it as well that we need to calm down and get back to work and just keep trying to be a better team and eventually we'll get better.

"Obviously, as players, we know it's hard when you're losing games, but there's only us who can change it, so no one else is going to change it for us. So we have to work at that and we need to put that right."
