Andoni Iraola discussed his two main options at right back for Liverpool.
Jeremie Frimpong got a goal and an assist in the 6-3 win over LASK on Wednesday. He profiles as a forward thinking fullback with speed to burn but not so much stability going in the other direction.
“Jeremie had very good moments yesterday, obviously he did the assist, scored a goal. It’s true last two goals at 6-1 [to 6-3] he wasn’t as fresh, you could feel he was getting tired and it was difficult to keep the performance levels in the last minutes of the game. But it was good for him to complete the full game.
“He is in good physical condition. It’s quite clear when we play with Jeremie and Ronald. The demands we put on the players are different. Jeremie helps us more offensively, he can arrive to those final third positions. It means we leave more space in behind, because you cannot cover everything.”
Ronald Araújo has joined the club on loan from Barcelona after falling out of favour, and he partnered with Jeremy Jacquet in central defence for the first hour of the victory in Austria.
However, he has primarily played as a more defensive presence at right back, impressing Iraola.
"Ronald is the opposite, he is more confident because he comes from the centre-back position but doesn't give us the runs in behind, the overlaps at the same level, but he can do it.
