After a slow preseason, the Charlotte Hornets looked much better against the Brooklyn Nets in their season opener Wednesday, holding on to take a 110-103 victory. It was a team effort all around for the Hornets, as Charlotte finished with five players who scored 17 or more, including Grayson Allen, who led the team in scoring with 21 points off the bench. Naz Reid impressed as well, adding 20 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.

The Nets' approach was quite the opposite, as Brooklyn finished with just two scorers in double-figures. Recent trade acquisition Julius Randle had a game-high 33 points and Michael Porter Jr. chipped in 26, as the duo combined for more than half of the Nets' points.

Looking ahead, Charlotte will face Atlanta Friday, Oct. 23, in their home opener. Brooklyn will travel to Cleveland for their first road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Saturday, Oct. 24.
