Anthony Joshua will not be getting any tips by Ben Davison on how to beat Tyson Fury in their heavyweight mega-fight.

That is according to the boxing trainer himself - who is helping 'AJ' prepare to topple his former pupil. Joshua and Davison have reunited for a second time, over two years after their initial split. Davison joined forced with the British brawler prior to his win over Otto Wallin three years ago.

He was also in Joshua's corner for his destructive knockout win over ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou in March 2024. But the pair split after Joshua was brutally knocked out by Daniel Dubois in front of over 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in September 2024.

But after two years, they are back working together. Opening up on their reunion, Davison revealed to Playbook Boxing, powered by Betway: "Obviously, we previously worked together. We've always kept a great relationship and get on really well with each other. He reached out about potentially working together and one thing led to another. He just he feels like it's the right place for him to be."

OPINION

Davison cornered Fury for five fights - including the heavyweight's epic draw with Deontay Wilder back in 2018. The coach famously helped the Morecambe scrapper out of his drink-and-drug fuelled depression and back to the ring. And while Joshua may be expecting some pointers on how to beat Fury in their December showdown in Cardiff, the 37-year-old can expect anything but.

"Not really. I think Tyson's developed as a fighter," said Davison when asked whether he will give Joshua tips to win the all-British clash with Fury. "There's nothing that I would know about him that you couldn't see by watching one of his fights - in terms of boxing.

"Outside of that, I think that's something that AJ respects. I never go to AJ and talk to him about Tyson. I think that's something that he can see. There's a level of integrity there."

Davison admits there's no ill will towards Fury and that it's strictly business as he prepares to lead Joshua to yet another blockbuster dust-up. "Of course it’s a little bit awkward. I've got a lot of love and a lot of respect for Tyson, and no matter what, boxing is business at the end of the day. But nothing will change that I’ve got a lot of love and respect for him and the time that we spent together. It’s solely business. He can say whatever he wanted to say. He could call me rotten if he wanted to."
