Tottenham Hotspur cross swords with Chelsea in what promises to be an exciting London derby at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Spurs ended their six-game winless run in the Premier League on Monday by beating Coventry City 3-1. James Maddison’s fine strike from just outside the box was cancelled out by Jack Rudoni at the start of the second half. But goals from Omar Marmoush and Ben Davies ensured the points stayed in North London.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have been performing very well under new boss Xabi Alonso. They climbed up to fourth in the table by beating Everton 2-0 away last time out.
Date: Monday, 24th October, 2026
Location: Stamford Bridge
Time: Kick-off at 17:30 HRS BST
Xabi Alonso has been dealt a big blow as Reece James has been ruled out for the rest of the year after undergoing minor knee surgery. Emiliano Martinez is also set to be out for multiple weeks after undergoing successful surgery on a fractured jaw.
Pep Chavarria missed the Everton game after he picked up an injury in training the night before, so he remains a big doubt for the visit of Tottenham. Malo Gusto (illness) was absent from the win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium but has had a week to recover.
Roberto De Zerbi said last week that Pedro Porro could recover from his hamstring injury and return against Chelsea. But Spurs will be without the services of Savio and Lucas Bergvall for a few weeks with muscle issues, whereas Destiny Udogie remains doubtful after missing the Coventry win due to minor knee concern.
Omar Marmoush, Andy Robertson and Tosin Adarabioyo came off in the second half against Coventry, but De Zerbi later clarified that none of the trio suffered any injury setbacks.
Chelsea: Penders; Acheampong, Lacroix, Colwill; Neto, Henderson, Caicedo, Hato; Palmer, Rogers, Pedro
Tottenham: Kinsky; Tosin, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Robertson; Tonali, Gray, Maddison; Marmoush, Kudus, Solanke
Chelsea have won each of the last six Premier League meetings with Tottenham, including a 1-0 success at Stamford Bridge in May last season. The Blues are in good form, having beaten Bournemouth 5-1 at home and Everton 2-0 away, respectively, in their last two games.
Spurs, meanwhile, have endured a grim start, down in 16th with just one win and only six goals scored in seven games. Before the Coventry win, De Zerbi’s men had gone six league games without a win. Against a Chelsea side that always seems to have their number, this is a daunting trip for us.
