Jake Leberl is warning Dover not to undo all their hard work.
Whites will look to start another unbeaten run this weekend, having been edged out 1-0 at home to Chelmsford on Tuesday - a defeat that ended an eight-game unbeaten streak.
Next up in the second of five fixtures at Crabble out of Dover’s next six games is this Saturday’s visit of Farnham Town.
Paul Johnson’s men have enjoyed an excellent start at Step 2 and find themselves in the play-off positions, four points ahead of mid-table Athletic.
Dover boss Leberl said: “They’re a club on the up. They have had a really good few years.
“They have got some experienced boys and some good players. As quickly as we’ve been on this good run, it can turn very quickly.
“We have got to be right up for the challenge because they’re in good form at the moment and, obviously, are a good side.”
Whites’ game against Chelmsford swung the visitors’ way after defender Roman Charles-Cook was controversially red-carded as he was ruled to have handled a goal-bound shot in the first half by referee Craig Barnett.
The Grenada international is now at risk of missing next weekend’s massive FA Cup first-round tie at home to National League Wealdstone after he was also dismissed in a 3-0 home loss against Maidenhead earlier this season.
Leberl said: “I didn’t know that until you just told me!
“There’s no point. Can you get an extra one if you appeal? With these rules, I really don’t want to talk about it.”
Leberl also provided an update on Decarrey Sheriff as the striker (knee) missed out against Chelmsford after he came off in the second half of last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Salisbury when Euan Williams scored a stoppage-time leveller.
“He has hurt his knee,” Leberl said. “He had to come off at Salisbury.
"At first, we didn’t think it was that bad. He was then really struggling on Sunday but he’s a little bit better.
“That will have to be assessed. Hopefully, it’s not too bad.
"But I think he’ll be at least a couple of weeks.”
One aspect of Dover’s defeat to Chelmsford - in front of a 656 attendance - which pleased Leberl was their fitness levels despite a numerical disadvantage.
He said: “I, honestly, felt we looked the fitter side.
"I felt we looked the hungrier side and I really feel that we’re in a good place.
“I’m a little bit frustrated with the atmosphere. I know it’s a Tuesday night, a bit damp, but we have been on a great run.
“It was a little bit flat, which was disappointing.
"There isn’t a lot more we can do to try and get this place buzzing, is there?”
The midweek match saw attacker Sak Hassan make a first start having arrived in mid-September.
“Sak had a really unbelievable first 90 minutes for us,” said Leberl.
“He came on at Salisbury and they couldn’t get near him.
“Being a man short, we couldn’t have a proper gamble-up like we did on Saturday and throw an extra one forward.”
