Oliver Glasner might have piled even more pressure on himself as the Nottingham Forest head coach after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford.

Glasner slammed some of his stars after the game, and now it will be fascinating to see what response these comments do to the stars when they face Manchester City next weekend.

Whether the Austrian has pulled a rabbit out of the hat with his public slamming of his stars remains to be seen, and Forest fans might have to be prepared for things to get worse before they get better.

TNT Sports commentator Adam Summerton often speaks well of Forest in general, and he’s had some words of positivity to say about Glasner whilst also suggesting he’s surprised at his little rant.

Adam Summerton shocked by Oliver Glasner

It’s not typically been in Glasner’s make up to get bent out of shape in press conferences following bad performances, and perhaps he’s now had enough of some of the current crop.

The Reds left London with nothing for their efforts against Brentford, and you have to go way back to September 12th to find the last Forest victory on the calendar.

Summerton is now keen to see how the Forest players react to Glasner’s comments and does still believe that things will pick up for the Reds.

He said on X: “No doubt Forest are under-achieving and readjusting, but can still see things picking up under Glasner – it’s not a side I look at and think they’re miles off it – but not taking the chances they create is killing them.

“That said, I’m surprised he spoke quite so strongly publicly yesterday – he’s rolled the dice a little bit there – how they react on the pitch will be very interesting.

“This is a coach with a track record that suggests he can really build something at Forest, he ticked many boxes for them.”

Forest now face a huge game against Manchester City on Saturday. The Reds look to be on a hiding-to-nothing, and it will be interesting to see how the fans react to these comments from Glasner.

It does feel as though a bad start could lead to toxicity from the stands, but whether it will be towards the players or Glasner remains to be seen.
