Not everyone is a believer in New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, and that includes former five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry.
During a recent appearance on the 4th and South podcast with Leonard Fournette, Landry unleashed an entire rant on why he believes Maye, the 2025 runner-up for MVP, is a "fluke."
"Drake Maye is a fluke. These last two games has been a fluke," said Landry. "He's played the bottom-half of pass defense in th NFL. This middle part of this schedule is probably one of the weakest parts of the schedule that they have—that I've ever seen, including the schedule that they had last year that got them all the way to the Super Bowl. And then he gets to the Super Bowl and play against a real defense in Seattle, and we all know what happens. Then he opens the year against Seattle, we all saw what happened."
Maye went through an ugly stretch of football in the first three games of the season, where he threw six interceptions and only one touchdown pass.
Those games came against great defensive teams, including the Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars. He has since bounced back in a major way with 10 touchdown passes and only one interception in his last three games against the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders and Buffalo Bills.
It's also important to mention that Maye has been playing at an elite level behind a banged-up offensive line and receiving corps. With that said, the only way to turn people into believers is to continue winning games and playing good football.
And even after that, there might still be doubters.
