Bukayo Saka might be one of the very best wingers in Europe but according to Rio Ferdinand, he can become even better with one simple change.
Saka has become Arsenal’s key man in recent seasons and it’s little wonder that the team looks and operates far better when he is fit.
Saka’s latest injury is going to be a big blow. However, when he does return to action, former England man Rio Ferdinand believes Saka can get even better if he adapts his game.

As we know, Ferdinand has come up against some of the very best attackers in world football during his career.
Now, he has explained on his YouTube channel how Saka can be even more dangerous by adding in a different element to his runs.
“I look at what the top players do and I go…Saka’s a good example. I think Saka…if Saka ran behind to get on it more, he then adds another level to his game where he becomes even more unplayable,” Ferdinand commented.
“And I think he’s a great player, Saka. I just think that I just think as a defender. I want him to want to hurt me there more.”
In terms of the point Ferdinand makes here, he is spot on really when we look at the very best wingers and the best seasons they’ve had in England.
Mo Salah was an expert at bursting in behind and his 32 goal campaign in 2018 remains a season high for a wide player, closely followed by Cristiano Ronaldo’s 31 for Man United in 2008.
Salah also managed 28 in the 24/25 campaign, while other players like Sadio Mane (22), Heung-Min Son (23) and Raheem Sterling (20), have all done well.
When we look at Saka’s best PL season – 16 in 2024 – it just shows that there can be more done by the Arsenal man. Indeed, taking Ferdinand’s advice here and doing what these players have done might well be something to take onboard.
