Former Buccaneers tight end Devin Culp signs with Browns

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Devin Culp is getting another opportunity in the NFL after signing with the Cleveland Browns' practice squad on Tuesday.

As Greg Auman of FOX Sports reported, Culp had been without an NFL contract since Tampa Bay released him in early September. Cleveland also confirmed the move in its official transaction announcement.

The Buccaneers selected Culp in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 246th overall pick out of Washington. However, the former Huskies tight end never established a consistent role in Tampa Bay's offense during his two seasons with the organization.

According to Pro Football Reference, Culp appeared in 18 regular-season games for the Buccaneers, recording six receptions for 94 yards and one touchdown. Five of those catches and 88 receiving yards came during his rookie season in 2024. His lone touchdown came in 2025, when he appeared in 13 games but caught just one pass.

Tampa Bay waived Culp during its final roster cuts on August 30, then brought him back to the practice squad the following day. His return was short-lived, as the Buccaneers released him again on September 2. He later worked out for the New England Patriots but remained unsigned until Cleveland came calling.

The move gives Culp another chance to continue his NFL career, although a practice-squad signing doesn't guarantee playing time. For now, the former Buccaneers draft pick has an opportunity to work his way back onto an active roster after spending more than a month without an NFL contract.
