The Hornets emerged as 2-0 victors at Vicarage Road on Saturday, courtesy of second-half goals by Luca Kjerrumgaard and Zemura, which sealed the victory after a much-improved performance following Tuesday's thrashing in Cardiff.
It was a crucial win for Watford after successive heavy defeats, 4-0 against Burnley and 5-1 in Cardiff, as the Hornets climbed back out of the relegation zone.
Zemura's late strike, a composed finish one-on-one with Arthur Okonkwo, put the result beyond doubt, after a performance that showcased a newfound level of stability.
Speaking on Instagram after the match, Zemura expressed his thanks to the club's supporters after a win the "team needed".
“A result which we as a team needed," he admitted. "Thank you, fans, for your voice today! The marathon continues. A special few days for me. To my baby girl, this is all for you, princess 🩷”
The second part of Zemura's message is a tribute to his unborn baby, whose gender, a girl, he revealed just days ago, a few weeks after announcing that he was expecting a child with his partner.
Zemura has only started once for Watford since the international break, having recovered from a minor injury, with his goal coming less than half an hour after he came off the bench.
The Zimbabwean international was not the only person to laud the win, following earlier comments by former chairman Sir Elton John, and head coach Alessio Dionisi.
Dionisi himself was handed more time ahead of the Charlton game, with the win giving him longer still to turn Watford's season around.
Watford will now travel to Molineux next Saturday, where they will hope to build more positive momentum against a Wolves side who have only won one of their last three games.
