Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will contest a Masters 1000 final for the second time in his career today.
The Spaniard went 0-5 in his first five finals on the ATP Tour, even blowing match points in some.
He finally broke his duck by lifting the trophy in Mallorca in June. Then, he was sidelined from July to September with a back injury. But Davidovich Fokina quickly lifted his second trophy in Chengdu a few weeks ago, in his first tournament back from that two-month layoff.
Now he's hoping to claim a third, and his biggest, at the Shanghai Masters.
Reflecting on his journey in finals, the 27-year-old said: "I think when you lose many finals and you win at the end one final, I think you relieve yourself, and you can express more, and you have more confidence in these kind of situations.
"So, maybe when the players win, after many, many finals, they can prove themself they can do it, I think they play better, as I said, in these situations."
