Cameron Boozer and the Memphis Grizzlies pulled off the unthinkable Friday night, improving to 2-0 on the year after an improbable comeback against the Golden State Warriors. Trailing 106-94 with 3:47 left in the fourth quarter, the Grizzlies scored 17 points unanswered, taking a five-point lead and ultimately holding on to a 111-108 victory on the road.
Former Duke forward Cameron Boozer shined after a slow debut, scoring 25 points to go along with 13 rebounds, six assists and two steals. Boozer outscored both two-time MVP award winner Stephen Curry and his collegiate rival, recent No. 11 overall pick Yaxel Lendeborg. Only Boozer's teammate, Ty Jerome, finished with more points (28).
Having finished with only 25 wins a season ago, many expected the Grizzlies to finish as one of the worst teams in the Western Conference once more. That said, Memphis is off to a hot start, and Boozer's winning impact is a large reason why.
