The players who remain on LIV Golf have exposed an awkward truth for Bryson DeChambeau

LIV 2.0 projected lineup for 2027 is underwhelming, to say the least.

As players leave the tour, including Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia, only four have said they plan to play on LIV next year: Richard Bland, Cameron Tringale, Ben Campbell, and Brendan Steele. Fun.

Recent reports say Bryson DeChambeau also intends to remain on the tour next season, and a few others are likely to join. But players of DeChambeau’s calibre are jumping ship to the DP World Tour.

And this has exposed an ironic truth about the two-time US Open winner’s options for next season.

Bryson DeChambeau would be better prepared for majors by doing YouTube

DeChambeau has four potential options for next season. The first is a return to the PGA Tour. That’s unlikely, as he’s said he won’t agree to terms with the tour, and the tour doesn’t seem in any rush to offer deals to returning players.

Next is spending a year on the DP World Tour, which is more feasible. DeChambeau is already playing Gary Player’s Nedbank Golf Challenge in his first tour appearance in four years, and he’s exploring the possibility of playing other events throughout the year.

But neither option seems to be where DeChambeau’s heart lies. His true passions are LIV Golf, which he’d probably like to play next season, and content creation.

DeChambeau has toyed with doing YouTube full time and playing only the major championships, but many have dismissed the idea because they don’t believe he’d be adequately prepared to play the majors.

But looking at the current LIV roster, how can anyone honestly say DeChambeau will be prepared for major competition when Bland is your biggest competitor on LIV?

In fact, if he goes about it the right way, doing content creation could actually be better major championship preparation than LIV Golf in 2027. It would give him free rein to focus only on the majors, like Rory McIlroy did last season.

Any guest he invites to play on his channel would be better than anyone on LIV, and if he needs a scorecard in hand, he could play in the occasional DP World Tour event. LIV players aren’t eligible for DP World Tour membership next season, so that wouldn’t be an option if he resigned.

What started as a pipe dream dismissed as a real possibility could well be DeChambeau’s best option moving forward, and it reflects how bad a situation he’s worked himself into.

Next year might be the year we see a content creator contend to win a major championship.
