The 223km second stage of the men's race will take place on Saturday, July 3, as part of the historic Grand Départ, which will see the Tour begin in Britain.
The newly released map shows riders travelling from Keswick in Cumbria through Lancashire before entering the Liverpool City Region for the final stretch to the waterfront.
In St Helens Borough, the peloton will enter from the Wigan border along Upholland Road, before turning onto Crank Road and continuing for 2.3km towards Windle Island.

Riders will then continue along Bleak Hill Road towards Eccleston, before heading down Chapel Lane and Burrows Lane into Knowsley.
The route map also highlights Prescot, which riders will pass through during the final 17km of the stage before reaching the finish in Liverpool.
The stage will finish with a sprint along Liverpool's waterfront, giving residents across the region the chance to watch one of the world's biggest sporting events on their doorstep.
Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Steve Rotheram said the race would be a chance for people to be part of sporting history.
He said: "From the streets of St Helens and Huyton to the finish on our iconic waterfront, this is going to be a special moment for everyone who lives here, and a chance to be part of sporting history."
The 2027 Tour de France will begin in Edinburgh on Friday, July 2, with three stages taking the men's race through Scotland, north-west England and Wales.
The event is expected to provide a boost for local tourism and businesses, while a dedicated newsletter is due to launch in the coming months to help St Helens residents and businesses prepare.
