Denver Broncos rookie Jonah Coleman caught the attention of viewers after CBS showed his remarkable body transformation.
Coleman, who's recently returned from a month-long injury break, made a decisive contribution to Denver's 26-21 win over the Carolina Panthers on November 8, scoring a go-ahead nine-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. The rookie took on an expanded role in the Broncos' backfield, finishing with 57 rushing yards from 17 carries and adding 31 receiving yards on four catches.
During the game, CBS highlighted the remarkable physical transformation the Broncos rookie underwent over an eight-week period last year, during which he lost 14 pounds and significantly reduced his body fat percentage.
The broadcast showed before-and-after photos from Coleman's time at Washington, revealing how his physique changed in just two months. The 5-foot-8 running back went from weighing 236 pounds with 16.8 percent body fat to 222 pounds with 14.2 percent body fat, appearing noticeably leaner and more muscular.
The weight loss helped Coleman improve his agility, fluidity, and explosiveness while retaining the strength and physicality that have become hallmarks of his playing style.
Coleman first shared the transformation in March 2025, more than a year before Denver selected him in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
After missing time earlier in the season with an ankle injury, Coleman has made an immediate impact since returning to the Broncos' lineup. An injury to RJ Harvey has opened the door for the rookie to take on a larger role, with head coach Sean Payton placing greater trust in the running back.
"I don't think it's a surprise to us, we've seen it in practice, in a lot of different situations, he's just a talented kid," Broncos tackle Mike McGlinchey said. "I think he's only going to get better the more he's out there."
Coleman has made the most of his increased opportunities, scoring a game-winning touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8 while recording a career-high 104 scrimmage yards. His performance also earned him consideration for NFL Rookie of the Week honors.
Denver completed an 11-point comeback in the fourth quarter to secure the victory against Kansas City, marking its third second-half comeback from a double-digit deficit this season. Coleman was also the Broncos' only running back to record a carry during the final two quarters.
"Just about going hard for one another," Coleman said. "... It was good to punch in the game-winner. ... Fourth quarter hit, we know what time it is."
Coleman's impressive display against the Chiefs followed a strong return from injury in Week 7, when he recorded 69 yards from 11 touches against the Arizona Cardinals. It was his first appearance after spending four weeks on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
The rookie had also made an impact in Denver's Week 2 comeback win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, recording 39 rushing yards and a touchdown from 10 carries. That was his only other appearance before the injury.
