How Chelsea target bullied Manchester United in Como’s epic Champions League win

Chelsea fans would have enjoyed watching Como’s amazing 4-1 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday.

They saw one of their Premier League rivals get humiliated and ex-Blue Cesc Fabregas come out on top. On the night, Como’s attacking play was phenomenal.

Nico Paz, who scored twice, linked up excellently with the likes of Lucas Da Cunha and Anastasios Douvikas. In the end, they proved too hot to handle.

However, despite conceding a late goal, the Italian side also defended pretty well. Central defender Jacobo Ramon is one reason why.

Manchester United attackers couldn’t get past Chelsea target Jacobo Ramon

It has been reported that Chelsea could make a move for Ramon in January, and after Wednesday’s performance against United, a lot of Blues supporters would probably be happy about that. The Spaniard was brilliant for Como.

Yes, Ramon scored a goal at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium, but he also made seven defensive actions. According to Sofascore, only teammate Alex Valle and United’s Harry Maguire made more (both eight).

Chelsea have been dominant against Tottenham for many years, but what does Xabi Alonso need to do to ensure this run keeps going?

What stood out specifically was Ramon’s tackling. The 21-year-old won all four of the tackles he attempted. United’s attackers could not get past him. They were absolutely bullied by the big 6’5″ defender.

Ramon also won five out of seven ground duels. He came to the Giuseppe Sinigaglia that night to compete and did just that.

What Fabregas will also love about his compatriot is how good he is on the ball. Ramon finished the game with a passing accuracy of 93% after completing 88 out of 95 passes. The Como star completed one of the two dribbles he attempted, too.

Ramon ticks all the boxes. He has the right attributes and characteristics to play for a top club in the Premier League like Chelsea.

The former Real Madrid man clearly has the height to play in England, but he also has the technical skill required to build from the back. Combine that with his defensive ability, and you have a top modern-day centre-half who is ready to compete in the Premier League at Chelsea or another club similar to the Blues.

Jorrel Hato’s development is progressing well, while Chelsea also have Josh Acheampong. The pair are two young central defenders who could have huge futures at Stamford Bridge. But Ramon is not the sort of player you want to lose out on.
