Ian Wright, Jamie Carragher and Roy Keane are among six pundits to have disagreed on the outcome of Liverpool's Premier League clash against Arsenal. Mikel Arteta's side head to Anfield after a shock exit in the Carabao Cup but can return to the top if they avoid defeat.
Manchester City missed the opportunity to extend their advantage on Saturday following a 1-0 loss at home to Brighton. The Gunners were also beaten by Fabian Hurzeler's side and are now only two points above them.
Arteta and Co. will be hoping that gap extends to five but they do not have the best record in the red part of Merseyside. Liverpool have been quietly impressing and a victory on Sunday would take them within three points of the reigning champions.
Arsenal are the favourites, however, and the majority are backing them for a victory but a score draw or even home triumph have not been ruled out. With all of that being said, football.london has rounded up what all the pundits are saying about the highlight fixture of game week nine.
Arsenal icon Ian Wright will be on Sky Sports' coverage of the game and is backing them to win at Anfield for the first time in 14 years.
Ian Wright has predicted an Arsenal win against Liverpool
Make sure you never miss the latest Arsenal news and opinion by making Football London one of your Google preferred sources.
On the latest episode of Stick to Football, he looked set to predict a draw before changing his mind. Wright said: "I think we beat them. This is the game that kind of defines Liverpool if they are coming back. You’re looking at [Alexis] Mac Allister, even [Cody] Gakpo [to step up]… but deep down, I really think we beat them. 2-1 Arsenal."
Roy Keane was the pundit that urged Wright to alter his prediction but that did not mean the former Manchester United midfielder was expecting an Arsenal win.
He said: "I'm thinking draw, Liverpool did well against City until the red card, 1-1?" That is Liverpool's only defeat of the season so far which highlights the challenge awaiting Arteta and his players.
Like Ian Wright, Gary Neville will also be covering the match on TV but his prediction and tone suggests that he may not be looking forward to the game.
He brutally stated on Stick to Football: "Arsenal will play for a point." The Gunners have previously been criticised for not pushing for victories away to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.
Carragher was another to change his mind when issuing a prediction having stated earlier this week that Liverpool could find themselves in the Premier League title race
He wrote for The Telegraph: "Here is a question I did not think I would be asking at any stage this season: will Liverpool win the Premier League?
"It would be premature to describe this Sunday’s Anfield fixture as a title duel. Arsenal are better equipped to defend their crown, while Liverpool are a work in progress.
"Whatever the outcome this weekend, Arsenal will leave Merseyside as the overwhelming favourites to claim back-to-back titles. They have a six-point lead over Liverpool. Should that extend to nine, Andoni Iraola’s primary objective coming into this season will remain unchanged; qualifying for the Champions League will represent a promising start to his reign."
He then said on Stick to Football: "I actually do think 1-1 but I'm too bias. I'll go 2-1, Liverpool."
As opposed to Carragher, Alan Shearer has backed a score draw following Liverpool's impressive run of form. Speaking to Betfair, he said: "I'm going to go for a score draw.
Alan Shearer has predicted a draw between Arsenal and Liverpool
"I just think with the form that Liverpool are in, I know Arsenal got dumped out of the cup in the week, but it was a very different team, so it'll be a different mentality going into it.
"Arsenal have to bounce back and it's going to be a really tough game and it's a tough one to call because Liverpool have got a lot going for them at the moment. I think both teams will take a draw, and I don't think it'd be a bad result for either team."
With Arsenal the best team in the league and Liverpool more solid at the back, Chris Sutton is expecting a low-scoring and tight game
He wrote in his BBC Sport predictions: Liverpool proved me wrong against Brighton last week, because they didn't just win, they played well too.
"After conceding so many goals last season, you can see they have really tightened things up. Arsenal don't give much away either, so this is going to be very close. Alexander Isak is scoring goals again for the Reds, and they will be full of confidence coming into this game.
"You could make a case for it ending up a repeat of the result we saw at the end of last season, when Dominik Szoboszlai's brilliant free-kick meant Liverpool edged a 1-0 win. I do think we will see the same scoreline, just with a different winner.
