Bartesaghi ‘really happy’ for Cisse as he sheds light on key tactical instruction

Davide Bartesaghi couldn’t hide his delight for Alphadjo Cisse after he scored a hat-trick in the rout of Red Bull Salzburg.

Given that Salzburg were unbeaten in 15 competitive games this season under Danny Röhl, many were expecting a very tough examination from the Austrian side, who have lots of talent and are known for their intense style of play.

However, Milan were ruthless and professional in their performance. Cisse netted twice in the first half then early in the second half to get his first senior hat-trick, then the substitute Goncalo Ramos came off the bench to add a fourth goal.

Bartesaghi was interviewed pitchside at the Red Bull Arena following the Diavolo’s impressive performance and win, with MilanNews transcribing the questions and his answers.

Are you happy for Cisse?

“I’m really happy for the team and for Alpha. We’re great friends, we hugged each other right away, and I’m happy to have contributed an assist for him.”

It was a great Milan display…

“Yes. We approached the match well, we’re happy with that, but there’s always something to fix. We hope to improve for the next matches.”

Costacurta says you have to play more…

“I had the international break to play, I came back feeling physically good, and I proved it tonight. Then, regardless of whether I play or not, I always try to play my matches and my game.”

You pushed very hard today…

“We prepared for the match this way: we knew there would be space on my side, I like to go push deep. I’m very happy with the assist for Cisse.”

How do you feel about Cisse?

“Alpha is an extraordinary guy and also a great footballer. I’m sure he will be a great help to Milan.”
