It was a second clean sheet of the season for Connor Ripley and the Swindon defence as they shut out Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.
Starting again with a back three, Negru was the one to drop out from Tuesday night as he was dealing with illness, bringing James Ball into the starting 11.
The Swindon camp had been afflicted by illness all week, and Ian Holloway said that he was not sure what his team would be before arriving in North Bristol.
He said: “I wasn't sure exactly who was going to play until we arrived today. That's because of the illnesses.
“I have got it as well, and I feel terrible, absolutely awful. We're all trying to stay out of the way of each other.
“I don't know what it is that's going about, but Steph had it, and he looked awful on Thursday. I didn't really want to tell you about it then.”
The injury issues persisted for Swindon, as Sam Inwood had to come off after just 20 minutes for Billy Kirkman, having gone down clutching his leg.
Inwood suffered a hamstring injury on his Town debut at Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup, and only got his first league start against Crewe Alexandra two weeks ago.
Whilst Swindon will need to evaluate the Northern Ireland Under-21 international further, the initial thought is that he has injured his hamstring again.
Holloway said: “It feels like his hamstring again, is what he said.”

Town are still reeling from losing Anthony Munda on Tuesday night after he suffered a hyper-extended knee late on in the win over Barnet, although he managed to limp to the final whistle as Swindon were out of substitutes.
The Newcastle United loanee was left out against Bristol Rovers as Swindon have sent him for a scan to get to the bottom of what has gone on with him.
Holloway was still no clearer on the situation with Munda after the game on Saturday, but Town remain concerned about a potentially serious knee injury.
He said: “We don't like the look of his knee. It actually went backwards on itself, so imagine you put your foot on the floor, and then your knee bends the other way. That's not good. So we've got everything crossed for that.”
