Since trading for wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. back in mid-October, he has continued to get acclimated to the Houston Texans’ offense.
He only played 19 percent of the offensive snaps in his debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but had his first touchdown as a member of the Texans in their loss to the New York Giants.
“Marvin has done a great job,” Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said. “Since the first day he's gotten here, when it comes to learning the playbook, Marvin's a really smart player. He's picked up on everything fairly quickly. He's been attentive. He's been dialed in, studying a lot. He's very well-versed in the playbook.”
With the bye week, Harrison had additional time to familiarize himself with Houston’s offense ahead of their game this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers. He actually played against the Chargers earlier this season with the Arizona Cardinals and had one reception for 33 yards. However, he should end up with more than one reception in this game.
During the loss to the Giants, second-year standout Jaylin Noel suffered a season-ending turf toe injury. Prior to his injury, he had been Houston’s leading receiver. With that injury, Harrison should get more offensive snaps and chances to make plays.
With the chemistry he has with Houston’s quarterback C.J. Stroud going back to college, Harrison could have a monster second half of the season with the Texans' offense, starting this Sunday on the road against the winless Los Angeles Chargers.
